Minister of Transport Inaugurated Lion Air Group Operations Office

Tangerang, July 21, 2017 - Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Karya Sumadi inaugurated the Lion Air Group Operational Office at Jalan Marsekal Suryadharma, Tangerang, Banten. The inauguration was marked by the signing of stone inscriptions on Friday (21/7).
The Lion Air Group Operation Center (LOC) building has two towers namely Blue and Red each have four levels. The blue tower serves as the center for maintenance and repair management for technicians and engineers. Red Tower is the operational center of Lion Air Group airlines in Indonesia namely Lion Air, Wings Air, Batik Air and Bizjet.
Lion Air Group President Director Edward Sirait said the LOC building was built since 2015, and it has been operated in phases since 2016. It is used as an operational hub, scheduling and moving rotation of aircraft, crew, engineer and engineering management.
"There is also a workshop room for training," he said.
Inside the building there is a room for monitoring the movement of aircraft, cabin crew, and weather conditions in collaboration with Air Navigation Indonesia, Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and the Ministry of Transportation.
This building provided with meeting and briefing room between cabin crew and pilot, as well as a room for medical check-up before flight. Cabin crew routinely performed health checks and drug use with doctor provided.
"We control all without exception," he said.
Edward said the LOC building is fully operational for 24 hours. All flight activities are well controlled. He ensures all aircraft and cabin crew that serves passengers in good health feasible flying.
Building area of 1 hectare consists of building area of 30 thousand square meters, built with 40 billion rupiah funds. Overall, Lion Air Group invests land and buildings amounting to 100 billion rupiah.
"We will build a second Wheel Break Shop, with three levels of communication to Lion Air Group in each region, such as direct communications, radio and tables," he said.
Lion Air Group's management is always committed to continuously improve flight quality. It does not tolerate security and safety factors. Security is enhanced through the moral education of employees and security actors.
"We invested a lot in education, in Balaraja, there was flight attendant, technicians and pilots training," he said.
Lion Air Group's aircraft maintenance center located in Batam, Batam Aero Technik (BAT) has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
"The quality of our Maintenance, Repair, and Operation (MRO) center is recognized worldwide," he said.
Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi said the achievement of Lion Air Group with operational LOC is a good impact for the national aviation world. Budi congratulates and give greatest appreciation to Lion Air Group.
"I am on behalf of myself and the government congratulate Lion Air Group directors and staff," he said.
The LOC building is expected to arrange 1,300 Lion Air Group aircraft movements per day. Every minute there is a Lion Air plane flying. "The controls must be done carefully and thoroughly, so travel can be good," he said.
In the event, Lion Air Group Management also awarded Soekarno Hatta Airport, Juanda Airport, Ngurah Rai Airport, Jakarta Air Traffic Service Center, Airnav Surabaya and Airnav Denpasar for their participation in assisting the Lion Air Group's operational smoothness during Lebaran 2017 transportation.
